The smallest and shallowest ocean in the world is the Arctic Ocean, located in the Northern Hemisphere and mostly in the Arctic north polar region.
The Arctic Ocean has almost the size of Russia, as it occupies an area of about 14,056,000 km2.
It is surrounded by Eurasia and North America, and is covered by sea ice throughout the year, especially in the winter. However, its temperature varies as the ice cover melts and freezes, for instance, half of its ice melts during the summer.
