How much does the Big Ben weigh?

Big Ben, whose chimes are one of the best -known sounds in London, is the huge clock situated in the Houses of Parliament in London and it first rang in 1858.

This bell, whose diameter is 2,7 metres, weighs 13 tones. It is the largest bell that has ever been made in England.

There are several explanations about the name of Big Ben. The most popular is that the bell was named after Sir Benjamin Hall, who was a tall, rather fat member of the Parliament.
