Despite claims that beards are “over” or that they simply “aren’t cool anymore,” the fuzzy face remains popular with men all over the world and there are plenty of hidden benefits. Not only have beards been scientifically proven to make men more attractive, research has unveiled that the grizzly beards boast a big health benefit too. They were also once banned! 1. Men with beards are more desirable. Period.

2. On average, a man’s beard will grow 5.5 inches per year.

3. If you were to put down the razor and stop shaving forever, your beard would be 8,5 metres long. (27.5 feet long)

4. Beards were once taxed, it’s true. Peter the Great encouraged cleanshaveness and for those who didn’t comply, he taxed them 100 rubles a year for a medallion.

5. This medallion served as a license to wear a beard. Although the principal at hand wasn’t about merely money.. His inscription on the beard license read, “The beard is a useless burden.”

30. 0.35 millimeters is the rate of human hair growth. Over a month your hair will grow 1 centimeter in length.
