“London Has Fallen”: 30 amazing facts about the movie! (List)

1. London Has Fallen is a 2016 American action thriller film directed by Babak Najafi and written by Creighton Rothenberger, Katrin Benedikt, Chad St. John, and Christian Gudegast.

2. It is a sequel to Antoine Fuqua’s 2013 film Olympus Has Fallen, and stars Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, and Morgan Freeman, with Alon Moni Aboutboul, Angela Bassett, Robert Forster, Melissa Leo, Radha Mitchell and Charlotte Riley in supporting roles.

3. Filming began on October 24, 2014 in London.

4. A Christmas break started in November with filming resuming in February 2015. The film was released on March 4, 2016 by Focus Features under their recently revived Gramercy Pictures label.

5. Principal photography on the film began on October 24, 2014, in London.

6. Four weeks of shooting were to take place, involving actors Freeman, Eckhart, Bassett and Melissa Leo, before a break for Christmas. Gerard Butler – who had been filming Geostorm the previous October – joined the shoot later, filming scenes with Eckhart in March 2015.

15. The film made $850,000 from its Thursday night previews and $7.6 million on its first day. It went on to gross $21.6 million in its opening weekend, finishing second at the box office behind Zootopia ($75 million).

27. The rear entrance/exit to PINDAR (The UK equivalent to the US PEOC) is allegedly” based on one the platforms at Charing Cross Station. It is assumed that the reason it is here is to necessitate access to a railway or the Underground in the need for the government to escape the capital. It is classed as a “Military Citadel”, others include the conspicuous one at the back of Horse Guards/The Mall, the abandoned one at Dollis Hill, the old Cabinet War Rooms under the Treasury and the then called Q-Whitehall (which is no doubt connected to PINDAR).

28. The Boeing 747-200 (G-BDXJ) used as Air Force One at Stansted Airport is the same one used in Casino Royale when it posed as the SkyFleet S570. The aircraft was not modified back to standard configuration after Casino Royale and in several scenes you can see the B-52 style engine pods and fuel pods on pylons. These are not found on the actual Boeing VC-25 (747). The aircraft is actually located at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey, England and is not airworthy. It can also be seen in many episodes of Top Gear as the show is mainly shot there.

29. Gerard butler and Angela Bassett both starred in vampire movie’s, Gerard as Dracula in Dracula 2000 and Angela in Vampire in Brooklyn (1995).

30. Aaron Eckhart and Angela Bassett both starred in separate DC movie’s Eckhart as Harvey dent/Two-Face in The Dark Knight (2008) and Bassett as Amanda Waller in Green lantern (2011).
