Recently, she won a Golden Globe for her role in The Wife. So let’s find out some interesting facts about her!

  1. She was born on March 19, 1947 in Greenwich Connecticut, U.S.
  2. When she was seven years old, her parents joined the Moral Re-Armament (MRA), in which her family remained involved for fifteen years, living in communal centers.
  3. She was 22 when she broke away from MRA, attending the College of William & Mary, and double majoring in theater and anthropology.
  4. Close started her acting career at the age of 27 and she was a theater actress for the better half of a decade.
  5. Her acting debut was in stage in Love for Love.
  6. She, also, appeared in Broadway productions of Barnum in 1980 and The Real Thing in 1983.
  7. For the latter she won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play.
  8. Close made her feature film debut in The World According to Garp (1982).
  9. She has received nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performances in Fatal Attraction (1987), Dangerous Liaisons (1988), and Albert Nobbs (2011).
  10. Glenn has yet to win an Academy Award, may be this her year?
  11. She has won two more Tony Awards in the 1990s, for Death and the Maiden in 1992 and Sunset Boulevard in 1995.
  12. She made her return on the Broadway stage in November 2014, in a revival of Edward Albee’s A Delicate Balance.
  13. Playing Patty Hewes in the FX drama series Damages, Glenn Close won a Golden Globe Award and two Emmy Awards.
  14. In her lauded career she won two more Golden Globes awards. One for the 2003 television film The Lion in Winter and, another for this year’s The Wife.
  15. She was married four times to Cabot Wade (1969- 1971), James Marlas (1984- 1987), David Evans Shaw (2006- 2015) and the least known wedding of hers ended before she went off to university.
  16. Although her daughter, Annie Starke, born on April 26, 1988, was from a fling with producer John Starke.
  17. Close has campaigned for many issues like gay marriage, women’s rights, and mental health.
  18. She is also a trustee of The Wildlife Conservation Society.
  19. She has 84 feature film credits to her name and she counts more than 115 nominations for prestigious awards.
  20. Her highest- grossing starring role worldwide comes from playing Cruella Devil in 101 Dalmatians ($320,689,294)!
