Read them here: 1. Steve Jobs is a 2015 American biographical drama film about Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, starring Michael Fassbender as Jobs alongside Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen, and Jeff Daniels.

2. It was directed by Danny Boyle and its screenplay was written by Aaron Sorkin, based on Walter Isaacson’s 2011 biography of the same name and interviews conducted by Sorkin.

3. The film is set before the launches of three key products: the Macintosh, NeXT Computer, and iMac G3.

4. Steve Jobs premiered at the 2015 Telluride Film Festival on September 5, 2015, and began a limited release in New York and Los Angeles on October 9, 2015.

8. Michael Fassbender said in an interview that Christian Bale who exited the project in November 2014 would have been “perfect” to play Steve Jobs. “I thought to myself: Christian Bale is perfect, why isn’t he doing it?” The actor told The Hollywood Reporter while promoting the film in London. “I actually called him up and told him that myself.”

9. David Fincher was originally attached to direct, but was dropped from the film by Sony after his demands – a $10,000,000 salary and full creative control of the project – could not be met by the studio. Fincher wanted Christian Bale to play the lead role. After his departure, Danny Boyle signed on to direct and Leonardo DiCaprio was approached about the title role. Ultimately, however, DiCaprio passed on the project and Christian Bale was offered it instead. However, Bale also declined the role, feeling he was not right for the part after which Michael Fassbender entered to star in the film.

11. Steve Jobs grossed $17.8 million in North America and $11.1 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $28.9 million, against a budget of $30 millio n.

12. Kate Winslet found out about the movie from her makeup artist while working on The Dressmaker (2015). The makeup artist just got hired for this movie and told Winslet. Winslet said that she was intrigued by a movie written by Aaron Sorkin, directed by Danny Boyle and starring Michael Fassbender that she asked for more details about the female part. She later sent a picture of herself with a black wig and then she got the script and met with Boyle which resulted in winning the part.

13. Michael Fassbender memorized the entirety of the 180-page script.

14. As the film is divided in 3 acts, it was shot in sequence and the actors got to rehearse for 2 weeks for act 1, then shoot for 2 weeks and then come back and rehearse for 2 weeks act 2. Kate Winslet said that by act 3, Michael Fassbender didn’t even have his script at the rehearsals, as he had memorized the whole 180 pages script.

17. Seth Rogen met with Steve Wozniak extensively to understand him. Rogen also researched Wozniak’s keynotes and speeches online. Rogen cited watching an old eighties video on repeat, featuring Wozniak giving a tour of the Apple museum at their headquarters as part of his research. Rogen later admitted that he had no idea who Steve Wozniak was prior to working on this movie.

18. The film was set to hold a Paris premiere on November 16, 2015 at the UGC Ciné Cité Les Halles cinema in the presence of director Danny Boyle. Following the November 13 terror attacks on the French capital, the premiere was maintained, but took place in Boyle’s absence.

19. According to reports, auditions did not use anything from Aaron Sorkin’s screenplay. Instead, actors read and acted out scenes from The Newsroom (2012), a television series created by Sorkin.

20. At a press conference, Michael Fassbender jokingly said he based his portrayal of the title character on Ashton Kutcher. Kutcher had also played Steve Jobs in Jobs (2013).

21. Aaron Sorkin originally wanted Tom Cruise to play Steve Jobs.

22. Although the latest part of the movie takes place in 1998, there are visual and dialogue allusions to such other later Jobs-related innovations as the iPad, the iPod, and iTunes.

25. Several memorable scenes in the movie never happened in real life. Some of these are the scene where Jobs’ little daughter uses his computer to draw a picture, the reconciliation between John Sculley (played by Jeff Daniels) and Jobs, most of the arguments with Steve Wozniak and the final scene between Jobs and his now-grown up daughter. On the other hand, the infamous scene where it’s implied that Jobs splashes his feet in the toilet bowl to calm himself down did actually happen. This was one of Jobs’ infamous quirks and Fassbender himself asked to do it in the movie, since it wasn’t in Sorkin’s script.
