A&W the first chain to introduce bacon cheeseburger

A&W, the chain of fast food restaurants, began in June of 1919 in California by Roy Allen and Frank Wright and by 1963 the chain had opened its first store in Okinawa.

It is then, when the first bacon cheeseburger was served at one of the A&W locations and the following years, the chain branched into other foreign markets, including the Philippines and Malaysia.

Before 2011 A&W was a ‘Yum!’ Brands Inc. company and was later sold to LLC,  a consortium of various A&W franchisees.
