One of the most popular, and successful animations, that Netflix has ever released is for sure “Disenchantment “.

1. Disenchantment is an American adult fantasy animated sitcom.
2. It was created by Matt Groening for Netflix.
3. The series is Groening’s first production to appear exclusively on a streaming service.
4. He previously created The Simpsons and Futurama for the Fox Broadcasting Company.
5. Set in the medieval fantasy kingdom of Dreamland, the series follows the story of Bean, a rebellious and alcoholic princess, her naive elf companion Elfo, and her destructive “personal demon” Luci.
6. Disenchantment stars the voices of Abbi Jacobson, Eric Andre, Nat Faxon, John DiMaggio, Tress MacNeille, Matt Berry, David Herman, Maurice LaMarche, Lucy Montgomery, and Billy West.
7. The first ten episodes were released on August 17, 2018.

One recurring background gag in Disenchantment is The Plague Patrol –  a team of serfs tasked with searching the streets of Dreamland for plague-ridden corpses and delivering them to the nearest pit for safe burning. The whole concept seems to be a nod to a classic scene from Monty Python and The Holy Grail, where a character called The Dead Collector works a similar route job, like a medieval mailman tasked with delivering a more unpleasant cargo.
12. Cursed gifts at weddings and births are a common trope in mythology and fairy tales, with the witch’s curse in Sleeping Beauty being perhaps the most famous.
13. There are many similarities -random ones- with… Game of Thrones. Fir example, isually, Disenchantment‘s main protagonist, Princess Tiabeanie (aka Bean) seems to be based on Daenerys Targaryen from A Game Of Thrones, as both heroines have pure white hair and favor blue clothing.
14. Unlike the other Groening cartoons, all of the human characters in this series have five fingers on their hands.
15. The mythical creatures, such as Elfo, have only four, and the demon and Bean’s stepmother have three fingers.
16. Matt Groening stated that he drew Elfo with sideburns so he would not be mistaken for a child.
17. Elfo is based on the first character Matt Groening drew after he had established his signature character style for drawing faces.
18. During the opening credits of every episode, it shows different scenes of what is to come within that episode.
