Which is the official fish of Hawaii?

Did you know that in Hawaii there are more that 400 fish species? All those species of Hawaii inhabit the Hawaiian archipelago in the central North Pacific Ocean, southwest of the continental United States, southeast of Japan, and northeast of Australia.

The official fish of Hawaii is the Reef Triggerfish, also known by its Hawaiian name,    “humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa”.

It is classified as ‘Rhinecanthus rectangulus’, it is endemic to the salt water coasts of various central and south Pacific Ocean islands.

Its teeth and top lip are blue and the teeth are set close together inside its relatively chubby mouth.
