Prince Harry of Wales Trivia: 40 interesting facts about him!

Prince Harry of Wales is the younger son of Charles, Prince of Wales, and Diana, Princess of Wales. At the time of his birth, he was third in the line of succession to succeed his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, but is currently fifth in line after his father, his older brother Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and William’s children, George and Charlotte.

Here’s some enlightening facts about him!

 

1. Prince Henry Charles Albert David was born on September 15, 1984 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Paddington.

2. His full name is His Royal Highness Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales. He has always been referred to as Prince Harry.

3. He was christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor in December of 1984.

4. He went to nursery school at Mrs. Jane Mynors’ nursery school in London beginning at the age of three.

5. When he started nursery school in London, Prince Harry didn’t get on well with the other children and was picked on by bullies.

6. He went to Wetherby School and then to Ludgrove School.

7. Because of his September birthday, Harry was just seven when he went to Ludgrove boarding school in 1992. This was also just a few days after the transcript of his mother’s intimate conversation with boyfriend James Gilbey appeared in the Sun.

8. On August 31, 1997, his mother passed away in a car crash.

9. In November of that year, he went with his father to South Africa where he went on a safari and attended a concert where the Spice Girls performed. He also met President Nelson Mandela there.

10. In 1998 he started his studies at Eton College in Windsor.

11. He left Eton in 2003 with A levels in Geography and Art.

12. He produced the documentary film The Forgotten Kingdom during his gap year in Lesotho, where he also visited Mants’ase Children’s Home near Mohale’s Hoek.

13. He has his own coat of arms, granted to him on his 18th birthday.

14. To prepare for a military career, Prince Harry attended the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst beginning in 2005.

15. He received his commission as an Army officer in 2006 and the Queen had the role of Reviewing Officer at the Passing Out Parade.

16. As a member of the Household Cavalry, he served in Afghanistan for two months between 2007 and 2008. After that, he decided he wanted to train to become a pilot of military helicopters.

17. Prince Harry was presented his wings by his father on May 7, 2010 at a ceremony at the Army Air Corps Base in Middle Wallop.

18. Harry has three medals to his name: an Operation Service Medal for Afghanistan, Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal and Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.

19. His current goal is to be trained on the Apache attack helicopters and he could possibly see active duty again.

20. Before the News of the World phone-hacking scandal was revealed, Harry and William constantly suspected their friends of leaking info about them to the press. They were actually relieved to learn that they’d been hacked instead.

21. Even though he is engaged in a military career, he still makes time for charitable work.

22. He is patron to several charities and is joint founder and patron of Sentebale, which helps children who were orphaned because of AIDS in Lesotho, South Africa.

23. One way he supports charities is through sports. He has joined his father and brother in polo matches that were organized for charity.

24. One of Harry’s best friends from Ludgrove, Henry van Straubenzee, died in a car crash in 2002.

25. When he was a child, Princess Diana took William and Harry around homeless projects and Aids wards in the hope that it would give them an understanding of people’s emotions, insecurities and of people’s hopes and dreams.

28. Harry met his ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas through his cousin Princess Eugenie in May 2012.

29. On 30 April 2014, it was announced that the couple had parted amicably.

30. While on holiday in Las Vegas in August 2012, Harry and an unknown young woman were photographed naked in a Wynn Las Vegas hotel room, reportedly during a game of strip billiards.

31. Prince Harry also has his own monogram. It’s a lovely curly “H” with a crown on the top.

32. In 2009, his grandmother, the Queen, gave his brother and him their own royal household. It has a small staff to manage the household and the brothers’ royal and military duties and their public and charitable activities.

33. Prince Harry enjoys skiing, motocross, and polo.

34. He has developed a reputation of being a little wild, with activities like smoking marijuana and underage drinking. However, he was known as “The Happy Prince” because he smiled so much.

35. Polls conducted in the United Kingdom in November 2012 showed Harry to be the third most popular member of the Royal Family, after William and the Queen.

36. There have been rumours that Harry is the son of James Hewitt, with whom his mother had an affair. In response, Hewitt and Diana’s police bodyguard have stated that Harry was born before the affair began.

37. Diana called him “My little Spencer” because his red hair comes from her family.

38. When they were younger, it was William who was the “naughty one.” He was nicknamed “Billy the Basher,” and Harry was overshadowed and bossed around by his big brother.

39. Kate Middleton’s parents aren’t crazy about Harry. His joking, unconventional manner strikes them as impolite.

40. Harry conceived of the Invictus Games after attending the Warrior Games in Colorado Springs in 2013. Afterwards. they took place in London, just six months after he officially launched them. More than 400 competitors—serving military personnel and veterans—from 13 countries compete in nine adaptive sports: athletics, swimming, powerlifting, indoor rowing, sitting volleyball, road cycling, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, and archery.
