Breathing air in Beijing is like smoking

According to a survey carried by Xinmin Weekly, a Chinese magazine, breathing air in Beijing is like smoking 21 cigarettes, which is about a pack per day.

Beijing is extremely air polluted and when smog blankets the city it becomes insufferable for many people.

People in Beijing are urged to wear surgical masks, since children and nonsmokers, are at risk for respiratory problems when severe smog and air pollution settles in over Chinese cities.
