A lake was renamed as it was considered offensive

Did you know that  “Nigger Lake” near Whitefish, Montana in the USA was renamed after being considered offensive?

It is said that the name came about from the fact that an African American woman named Mrs. Randals ran a rooming house for lumberjacks near the lake.

The lake was named in the late 1800s or early 1900s as “Nigger Lake” and was renamed to “Lost Coon Lake in the 1980s.
