Australia is a nation where your best hope of survival is praying that something big will eat the thing trying to eat you – before you get eaten. 1. There are three times as many sheep than people living in Australia.

2. The Australian Emu – a large, flightless bird – can run as fast as 45km/h (28mph)

3. Platypus are highly poisonous, and have enough poison to kill a dog or make a human seriously ill.

4. Wombat poo is shaped like a cube!

5. The Box Jellyfish – which is found in the waters of the Great Barrier Reef – is responsible for more deaths than snakes, sharks and saltwater crocodiles combined.

16. While Kangaroos are considered a national icon, with over 40 million estimated throughout the country, they can also be considered a pest in some locations and are sometimes culled.

17. Australia has a larger population of camels than Egypt.

  • Absoultely ridiculous. As an Australian, I can debunk this easily. Our country isn't all desert, our wildlife doesn't kill you, and crocodiles are uncommon.
    Sure, you may find the odd daddy-long-legs or huntsman, but grab a thong and slap it and you're all good. Don't believe a WORD of this article.
