Pokémon Go Trivia: The longest list of strange facts!

Pokémon Go took over the planet these past days and a lot of strange things happened! Let’s see what weird events have been reported so far!

1. A teenager found a dead body. On July 8, Shayla Wiggins was trying to find a water Pokémon in a location that sounds like the perfect place for them: near a river in Riverton, Wyoming. While scanning the area, Wiggins discovered what turned out to be a body floating in the water and called 911. Wiggins told Kotaku that because she quit playing to dial 911, she never did find the Pokémon she was looking for.

2. A 40 year old couldn’t sleep so she downloaded Pokemon Go. He reported on Reddit that she was wanderings at 3 a.m, he met two guys, he started chatting with them and then as she said ” “So I end up chatting with the guys for a bit. […] Then the cop shows up. Yeah, so it turns out two twenty-something black dudes and a forty-year-old white guy chilling in the park at 3am looks strange. It took a bit of talking to convince the cop we weren’t doing a drug deal, and a bit longer to explain the game.”

3. One user discovered that his home was listed as a gym, and noticed several people parking outside of his gate.

4. According to Gizmodo, Niantic—the team that collaborated with Nintendo to create the app—used locations from an earlier game called Ingress to fill the Pokémon Go world.

5. An ex-U.S. Marine currently fighting ISIS outside of Mosul, Iraq shared a screenshot of his Pokémon next to a really big gun and challenged the opposition to battle.

6. Pokémon Go is free to download, but the app is already paying off for Nintendo. According to Forbes, the company’s stock price began to climb in the days following the game’s launch, and it climbed another 25 percent on July 11, adding $7 billion to the company’s market value.

7. Pokémon Go players all over the internet have been claiming that the app is sending them to the strangest places. In addition to the Australian police station that issued a statement asking players (a.k.a. trainers) not to come inside, there have been reports of Pokestops (locations where players can find free items that enhance gameplay) and gyms (places where trainers battle and form alliances) inside graveyards, behind strip clubs, at London’s MI5 security agency headquarters, in toilets, and inside places of worship.

8. In Australia, the Darwin Police Station – which had been deemed a Pokestop – was forced to issue a statement via Facebook that Pokemon Go players need not enter a building to collect Pokeballs and could just do while standing outside.

9. In Arizona, US, a school sent an email to students saying: “We are aware that our campus have been invaded by Pokemon. We believe they are friendly. Please approach them with caution and remember to look up from your phone to prevent tripping or running into something.

10. In Tennessee, the Highway Safety Office took to Twitter with a convincing Photoshopped image along with a notice that advised players to park and then play the game, using the hashtag #PikachuCanWait.

11. Because users not living in Australia, New Zealand and the US have had to resort to sideloading the game onto their Android or iOS devices, there is a possibility the version you install has malware injected into it. Security firm Proofpoint found as much in their report, discovering an infected version of Pokemon Go that had been doing the rounds on the Web. So, pay attention!

12. Reddit post revealed that a player put his career at risk when he started playing the game at a place that strictly prohibited using camera on the premises. He was, however, let go with a warning after he explained the game.
