How many searches are performed on Google?

Google is the world’s most used search engine. It contains several trillions of web pages that are indexed and crawled almost immediately every time a user conducts a search. It is not an easy task, and workload is huge. We found out how huge, exactly.

Google is getting requests for about 37.000 searches per second. That is 3.196.800.000 searches per day, or over one trillion searches per year, assuming that search rate stays the same. Google, thankfully, has invested largely in servers that work with ecology in mind and software that can get search results with very little calculations through smart indexing.

The fact that the service is on with no hiccups 24/7 for the past many years is one of the greatest feats of modern technology!
