Google has never topped a prank it played in 2004, one that was so effective that most people, to this day, don’t think of it as a prank. It had to do with the launch of Gmail on April 1, 2004.
Gmail was introduced with an unbelievable 1GB free storage in 2004, while Hotmail only offered 2MB at the same time.
Google announced Gmail on April 1st, and wrote a puny and unprofessional press release, tricking many into thinking it was an April’s fool joke!
But, actually, it wasn’t!
