1. Emma Stone was born Emily Jean Stone. She changed her name while registering for her Screen Actors Guild card and found “Emily Stone” was taken. Some people still call her “Emily,” which must be thoroughly confusing for everyone. “Jean” was her grandmother’s first name.

2. These days, the bubbly redhead has no problem scoring roles. A few years back, it was a different story. She lost out on the role of Claire Bennet in Heroes back in 2007 (to Hayden Panettiere) and says the experience was “rock bottom.” Luckily, she landed her first movie role the same year.

3. She was born on November 6, 1988 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

4. Emma Stone was in bad shape at the age of seven when she broke both arms on the parallel bars in gymnastics. Years later, the actress starred in the “I Broke My Arm” skit on Saturday Night Live. She did break both arms in the sketch, along with both of her legs and just about everything else.

5. Talk about embarrassing: This star found out she had asthma while filming a rigorous fake sex scene in 2010’s Easy A. Stone explained: “I had a little asthma attack, without any prior knowledge that I had asthma, during the scene where we had to jump up and down for hours and hours screaming and yelling on the bed. [It] was humiliating, because it was the second day of shooting.”

6. The actress waited 21 long years before getting her ears pierced. In one shot she got two holes in her left earlobe and three in her right. “Most people go through this when they’re like, 14,” she revealed. “I’m like, ‘Hey, what’s up everybody? I moved to New York and got fiive piercings!”

7. The star attended Xavier College Preparatory, a Catholic high school in Phoenix, for one semester before dropping out to pursue her acting dreams. She was home schooled after that.

8. We all have famed film producer Judd Apatow to thank for Stone’s now-signature red hair. He was the one who convinced her to ditch her brunette locks back in 2007 for her role in Superbad. “Judd made me a redhead,” she explained in 2010. “I was a brunette during casting. Then Judd walked in, said ‘Make it red,’ and walked out. So he made me this way.”

9. Emma Stone got her big break back when reality TV was just heating up. She won the role of Laurie Partridge in 2004 on VH1’s In Search of the New Partridge Family! Unfortunately, the show tanked (they only produced one episode), but she did land some minor TV guest spots following the failed gig. She landed her first recurring role on TV’s Drive in 2007.

10. She has admitted to turning down auditions for roles that tried to cast her as the token pretty girl because she wanted to be taken seriously as a comedian.

This all means the actress has probably kissed the Gos almost as much as his own girlfriend, Eva Mendes. While we’d sure like to know what it’s like to smooch the dreamy actor, Stone won’t kiss and tell.

23. Jonah Hill helped make Stone a star in Superbad, and they’ve been close ever since. She had to pass up starring with him again in the 21 Jump Street remake this year, but it wasn’t personal. At the time, she said the actor’s one of her favorite people “in the entire world.”

24. Emma Stone is one of the hottest young actors around, so it’s not too surprising that she’s befriended one of the hottest young singers around. She talked about her friendship with Taylor Swift in 2011. “We met at the Young Hollywood Awards for Hollywood Life magazine,” she explained. “We met there three years ago, and then I listened to some of her music, and I wrote her an e-mail saying I liked her music, I swear. And then we started talking and hanging out.”

25. We don’t expect Emma Stone to wear 15 kinds of plaid to her next big Hollywood event, but she does idolize actor Bill Murray. She says she’s also inspired by Gilda Radner, John Candy, Charlie Chaplin, the Beatles, Lorne Michaels, Cameron Crowe and the Beatles.
