1. Her real name is Amanda Lee Rogers.
2. She was born on the 31th of January 1973.
3. She was born in Horsham, Victoria, Australia.
4. She grew up in Grovedale, a suburb of Geelong, Victoria.
5. She lost her dad at the age of 9.
6. At the age of 15, she gave herself the name Portia de Rossi, by which she remains best known. In 2005, she explained she had intended to reinvent herself, using the given name of Portia, a character from William Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice, and an Italian last name.
7. She studied law at the University of Melbourne.
8. Her first significant role was as a young and impressionable model in the Australian 1994 film Sirens.
9. She moved to Los Angeles after the film and took parts in different series.
10. She joined the main cast of Ally McBeal in 1998, playing lawyer Nelle Porter.
11. From 2003–06, de Rossi starred as Lindsay Bluth Fünke on Fox Television’s Arrested Development.
