“Venom: Let There Be Carnage” is the second movie with the Marvel superhero, Venom, that is scheduled to be theatrically released this fall.

  2. It is produced by Columbia Pictures in association with Marvel and Tencent Pictures.
  3. It is distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing.
  4. It is intended to be the second film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe and the sequel to Venom (2018).
  5. The film is directed by Andy Serkis.
  6. Kelly Marcel wrote the screenplay.
  7. The screenplay is based on a story she wrote with Tom Hardy who stars as Eddie Brock / Venom.
  8. Tom Hardy stars alongside Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, Stephen Graham, and Woody Harrelson.
  9. In the film, Brock tries to reignite his career in journalism by interviewing serial killer Cletus Kasady (Harrelson), who becomes the host of an alien symbiote similar to Venom named Carnage.
  10. Venom was intended to be the start of a new shared universe, and plans for a sequel began during production on the first film.
  11. Harrelson was cast to make a brief appearance as Kasady at the end of Venom with the intention of him becoming the villain Carnage in the sequel.
  12. Official work on the sequel began in January 2019.
  13. It was back then when Hardy and Harrelson confirmed to return along with Marcel as writer.
  14. Serkis was hired as director that August, partly due to his experience working with CGI and motion-capture technology which was an important part of portraying Venom and Carnage in the film.
