Negan is shown to be a cruel, highly intelligent, charismatic, manipulative, brutal and ferocious sociopathic man with a sarcastic, inappropriate sense of humor. Negan is a brilliant strategist and a strong, effective leader, having kept hundreds of people alive and is worshipped by many and feared by others. Let’s check out some awesome facts about the fictional character that spread chaos in the world of The Walking Dead!
1. His character is based off the American musician, actor, writer, television and radio host, and comedian Henry Rollins.
2. According to issue #158 of the comic book, Negan is still alive, although he’s no longer the primary antagonist.
3. Before the zombie outbreak, Negan was a decent guy with a regular life. He lived in Virginia, had a steady job and was happily married. He worked as a used-car salesman.
4. It’s a well known facts that Negan’s bat, Lucille is named after his wife. But what actually happened was that after her death during the outbreak, she was reanimated, but Negan didn’t have the heart to kill her, but instead asked another survivor he had helped out at the hospital to do so.
5. After what he did to Glenn, Negan and Carl developed a father/ son relationship according to the comic book!
6. He actually does have a soft side. He proves it when he started to make fun of Carl for losing an eye and as soon as Carl started crying, he felt remorse and immediately apologized to him.
7. He was originally to be named “Nagus” but it sounded really cheesy.
8. Jeffrey Dean Morgan was in middle of shooting The Good Wife when he was offered the role of Negan. Being a big fan of the show, he immediately responded ‘It’s f—ing Negan and I’m f—ing doing it.’”
9. He has a sailor’s.. or should I say.. Negan’s mouth! He swears even more in the comic book than he does during the series!
10. While much of his violence is gratuitous, there is a method to his madness. He has a psychotic sense of justice and he sticks to his morals.
