“The Nice Guys”: 20 things you didn’t know about the movie! (List)

1. The Nice Guys is an upcoming 2016 American mystery thriller dark comedy film directed by Shane Black and co-written with Anthony Bagarozzi.

2. It stars Russell Crowe, Ryan Gosling, Angourie Rice, Matt Bomer, Margaret Qualley, Keith David and Kim Basinger

3. This is the second collaboration between Russell Crowe and Kim Basinger, the first being L.A. Confidential (1997), and the second between Black and Ty Simpkins, who already appeared in his previous movie Iron Man 3.

4. The film will be released on May 20, 2016 by Warner Bros. Pictures.

5. The plot: The film takes place in 1970s Los Angeles, when down-on-his-luck private eye Holland March (Ryan Gosling) and hired enforcer Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) must work together to solve the case of a missing girl (Margaret Qualley) and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star. During their investigation, they uncover a shocking conspiracy that reaches up to the highest circles of power.

6. In June 2014, it was announced that Shane Black would direct a murder conspiracy thriller titled The Nice Guys, with Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling starring and Joel Silver producing.

7. Warner Bros. would handle the North American rights to the film.

8. On September 16, Margaret Qualley and Angourie Rice joined the film.

9. Principal photography began on October 27, 2014, in Atlanta and Decatur, Georgia.

10. On October 31, a police station scene was filmed in Atlanta among extras.

11. Filming also took place in Los Angeles.

12. Like fellow PI Jim Rockford, Gosling keeps his gun in a cookie jar.

13. The project was initially proposed as a TV series but was re-tooled as a film after the pilot seemed to be going nowhere.

14. One of the film’s nods to “The Rockford Files” is the yellow pages ad for Gosling’s detective agency. It is almost a complete copy of the ad used for Jim Rockford.
