The Irregulars Trivia | 40 facts about the new Netflix series

One of the new Netflix original series, that has already gaines a lot of popularity due to its connection with Sherlock Holmes character, is “The Irregulars”.

  1. The Irregulars is a British crime drama television series.
  2. It was developed by Drama Republic for Netflix.
  3. It is a considered a Netflix original series.
  4. It is based on the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
  5. It features the Baker Street Irregulars working for Dr. Watson saving London from supernatural elements.
  6. Dr. Watson was a friend of Sherlock Holmes, who was the main character that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle ever created.
  7. The series was created by Tom Bidwell.
  8. It had eight episodes.
  9. It premiered on 26 March 2021.
  10. The plot follows a group of teenagers living on the streets of Victorian London known as the Irregulars work for John Watson to solve increasingly supernatural crimes, while Sherlock Holmes gets credit for their work
  11. The series takes its name from characters who appeared in Arthur’s written works, named the Baker Street Irregulars.
  12. These characters, young boys who Sherlock uses on the streets of London to gain intelligence while carrying out his investigative work, are featured in three stories alongside the famous detective.
  13. The term “Baker Street Irregulars” comes from the title of Chapter 8 in The Sign of the Four.
  14. In that novel, Holmes enlists the Irregulars in tracking the progress of a boat on the River Thames.
  15. Some scenes were filmed at Liverpool’s Stanley Dock, England.
  16. It was the same location used for Peaky Blinders (2013) Captain America (2011) and Robert Downey Jr.’s Sherlock Holmes (2009).
  17. There were some disturbing moments behind the scenes as JoJo says he was followed around by birds.
  18. Their production was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with only two more weeks of shooting left to do.
  19. In 2012, the Guinness Book of World Records named the fictional detective Sherlock Holmes the most portrayed literary character in film and TV.
  20. Some scenes were shot in Liverpool at St George’s Plateau, the palm house in Sefton Park and Falkner Street in the Georgian Quarter.

  23. In January 2020, scenes for The Irregulars were filmed in Abbey Square in Chester, a Victorian house in Hoole, and at the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port just before the start of lockdown in March 2020, when filming had to be suspended.
  24. Then in August 2020, filming resumed and returned to Ellesmere Port to the National Waterways Museum.
  25. Arley Hall in Northwich was used as a filming location, which viewers may also recognise from Peaky Blinders.
  26. Scenes were filmed inside Ruthin Gaol in North-east Wales and Wentworth Woodhouse in South Yorkshire
  27. The Irregulars Episode 3 “Chapter 3: Ipsissimus” follows the gang as they head to Mycroft Holmes’s country estate for a meeting of the secret society, The Golden Dawn. Mycroft wants to enlist these crazy kids to very obviously snoop on the inner circle of the occult group to figure out who murdered the last grand mage. During this adventure, we learn that Jessie is an Ipsissimus, or a “true psychic.” Later we learn her mother Alice was, too, and was involved in some dark experiments with a younger Holmes and Watson.   34. When Leopold starts to bleed in his nightmare, the bleeding is mostly from his head (nose and ears). In real life Leopold dies bleeding out after hitting his head when he’s 30 years old.
  35. Leo, is Prince Leopold, later styled Duke of Albany and Earl of Clarence, and the eighth (and the youngest son) of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s nine children. The only other royal glimpsed in The Irregulars is his older sister Princess Louise, who’s seen taking a fancy to Spike when he visits the palace.
  36. Queen Victoria is only glimpsed in portrait form on the show and Prince Albert was already dead by the time it’s set in the 1870s.
  37. The possessed nun says that Leopold was “impure” and should be baptized, using this as an excuse for actually trying to drowning him, but in real life Prince Leopold was already baptized. He was baptised in the Private Chapel of Buckingham Palace on 28 June 1853 by the Archbishop of Canterbury, John Bird Sumner.
  38. His godparents were his first cousin once removed, King George V of Hanover; his fourth cousin once removed, Princess William of Prussia; his first cousin once removed, Princess Mary Adelaide of Cambridge; and his maternal uncle by marriage, Prince Ernst of Hohenlohe-Langenburg.
  39. Jessie is an “Ipsissimus.”
  40. It means that she has the ability to tap into the thoughts of other people and communicate with supernatural beings.
