  6. The film stars Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Esai Morales, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff, and Henry Czerny.
  7. In the film, when Ethan Hunt and his IMF team are confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful foe known as “the Entity”, Hunt is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission.
  8. In January 2019, Cruise announced that the seventh and eighth Mission: Impossible films would be shot back-to-back with McQuarrie writing and directing both films.
  9. Returning and new cast members were announced soon after, and Lorne Balfe, who composed the score for Fallout, returned to score the film.
  10. Filming began in Italy in February 2020 but was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  11. It resumed later that year and wrapped in September 2021 with other filming locations, including Norway, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates.

  22. While filming in Italy, twelve people on the set tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, when filming resumed in the UK, Tom Cruise personally paid £500,000 for an old cruise ship for the cast and crew to isolate on.
  23. Filming started in Venice on the same day Northern Italy locked down for COVID-19. Production was hastily moved to Rome, only to be shut down again.
  24. As of this movie, Tom Cruise is now older than Jon Voight when he was in the first Mission Impossible (1996). Voight was 57 at the time, whereas Cruise was 57 when filming initially started, 59 when it finally wrapped, and will be 61 when it’s released).
  25. Esai Morales replaced Nicholas Hoult, who was originally cast as the villain. Hoult was forced to drop out due to a scheduling conflict with filming season two of Hulu’s “The Great”, caused by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and subsequent production delay.

  27. Footage was released of Tom Cruise’s next big stunt for this film, which involved riding a motorcycle off a cliff and parachuting to the ground.
  28. During an interview with Savannah Guthrie on the Today Show, Tom Cruise said that Dead Reckoning Part 1 and 2 will be his final portrayal as Ethan Hunt as well as the final main installments.
  29. In early May 2020, Lorne Balfe was confirmed to be returning to compose the score for the seventh and eighth Mission: Impossible films, after previously doing so for Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018).
  30. Balfe’s music from the teaser trailer was digitally released as a single on June 23, 2022, through Paramount Music.
