Manifest Trivia | 30 facts about the series

“Manifest” is a series, that many people tend to compare with the old but gold series, “Lost”.

Let’s find out more about the series!

  1. Manifest is an American supernatural drama television series.
  2. It was created by Jeff Rake.
  3. It premiered on September 24, 2018, on NBC.
  4. The series centers on the passengers and crew of a commercial airliner who suddenly reappear after being presumed dead for more than five years.
  5. It stars Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J. R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, and Matt Long.
  6. In October 2018, NBC ordered an additional three episodes of the series.
  7. The first season ended with total up to 16 episodes.
  8. In June 2020, the series was renewed for a third season.
  9. It premiered April 1, 2021
  10. Creator Jeff Rake had come up with the idea of the show 10 years ago before its premiere when on a family vacation.
  11. When pitching to networks, it was turned down.
  12. In 2014, when Flight MH370 disappeared, Jeff, in an interview, stated: “my crazy pie in the sky idea felt a little bit more real, relatable.” Years later, Jeff took his idea out again, which generated a lot of interest and was eventually picked up by NBC.
  13. The number 828, or anything similar/related to it, is seen in every episode.
  14. Michaela’s apartment number is 414, which is half of 828.
  15. The title of each episode (and the title of the show itself) is related to airplanes or air travel, including the pilot episode, whose title is simply Pilot.
  16. The pilot of flight 828 is named “Bill Daly.”
  17. Actor Bill Daily played the role of an airline navigator on The Bob Newhart Show and an Army pilot and astronaut on I Dream Of Jeannie.
  18. It’s not the first time that Josh Dallas has played a character affected by time and younger than he actually is. Before this he played Prince Charming on Once Upon a Time where he played a man in his late 20s with a daughter the same age as him and a teenage grandson.
  19. In June of 2020, NBC announced that “Manifest” had been renewed for a Season 3, but will likely not return until May 2021.
  20. In a mixed critique, Los Angeles Times’s Lorraine Ali remarked that the series had a compelling premise and that the many mysteries it introduced “point toward a potentially addictive series if Manifest allows its gripping supernatural narrative to rise above its characters’ less interesting personal dramas.”
  21. The greatest challenge to be faced in such a situation is for those who were away, not for those who remained and for whom the change around them was normal. Physiologically, the change in a person over five and a half years would not be easy to spot, unless it were to involve something like significant weight change or children. For an adult, changes over a period of ten years or more could be quite noticeable. To those who were away, however, the change is immediate and dramatic. Popular TV shows could have been canceled, there could be wildly popular movie or singing stars that they’ve never heard of, two or even three sequels to a popular film could have appeared, new models of cars could be introduced, a new skyscraper or highway interchange could have gone up, there could have been a dramatic change in political administrations, and other dramatic differences. In addition, for many years afterwards, a person would continue find out about things they’d missed. At certain points in time, the change over five and a half years could be stunning, such as the introductions and mass adoption of such things as MP3 players or smartphones, changes in recreational drug laws, or the radical change in airports following 9/11. While it is easy to think of this situation as being limited to science fiction, this is something that is routinely experienced by expatriates who may have spent years working a developing nations and on salaries too low to afford annual visits home.
  22. On August 28, 2018, the first nine minutes of the first episode were released among various digital outlets.
  23. As a noun, a manifest is a passenger list for a boat or a plane.
  24. As a verb, it refers to something making itself known, such as symptoms or destiny.
  25. The NSA Director’s name is Robert Vance. Interestingly, Robert “Bob” Vance (Vance Refrigeration) is a recurring character on another NBC Show, “The Office”(2005).
  26. NSA Director Vance shares a surname with NCIS Director Leon Vance (from the show of the same name).
  27. On July 21, 2018, the series held a panel at San Diego Comic-Con in San Diego, California. Those in attendance included executive producer Jeff Rake and actors Melissa Roxburgh and Josh Dallas.
  28. The flight number is 828. When Michaela is in the church, she reads the Bible verse Romans 8:28, which reads “All things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.” The address where MIchaela frees the dogs and later finds the lost girls is also number 828.
  29. The house number for Jared and Lourdes is 3528, 3 + 5 = 8, so again 828, like verse location and flight number.
  30. According to the Hollywood Reporter, each episode is a story all by itself. That’s because the episodes feature a passenger from the plane and other stories surround them. Some problem or bad issue exists in every episode. The personal problem is resolved at the end but not the big mystery about the missing plane.
