  10. Before the release of the 2018 film, McBride in June 2018 confirmed that he and Green were originally intending to pitch two films that would be shot back-to-back and then decided against it, waiting to see the reaction to the first film.

  22. Jamie Lee Curtis, Charles Cyphers, Kyle Richards, Nancy Stephens, and Nick Castle were all in the original Η Νύχτα με τις Μάσκες (1978) and all returned for this sequel.
  23. The characters of Tommy Doyle and Lonnie Elam from the original also returned, but were recast with Anthony Michael Hall and Robert Longstreet, because Andrews is retired from acting since 2015 and Le Page never acted again after the original Halloween
  24. According to Andi Matichak, it was initially planned that Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends (2022) would be filmed back to back. This did not occur, due to an “intense schedule.”
  25. Actual firefighters from Cannon Air Force Base Fire Department appear in the film’s opening
  26. Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode for a sixth time, and in doing so, she surpasses Donald Pleasence (Dr. Loomis), who appeared in five movies, with the most appearances in the series.
  27. David Gordon Green recalled that when they attempted to find a yearbook photo of one of Michael Myers’ victims from the 1978 film, he came across a yearbook photo of Bob Odenkirk that he thought resembled original actor John Michael Graham.
  28. The rights issues were resolved so that Green could use Odenkirk’s photo instead of the actual actor. Odenkirk is therefore credited as ‘Bob’, despite not physically appearing in it
  29. In the original Halloween (1978), while inside the Myers house Brackett and Loomis discover a dog in the living room that has recently been partially eaten. While referred to, it is never shown. In this film, however, in a flashback scene, Hawkins and another deputy are standing in the living room and for the first time the dog’s half-eaten carcass is revealed
  30. As the film was shot digitally, film grain filters were used in the new 1978 flashback scenes.
  31. Nick Castle noted, that when recording the sounds of breathing as Myers, he didn’t recognize his own appearance in the film
  32. Early in the movie, the wagon stolen by Michael Myers from Dr. Loomis and Nurse Marion Chambers at the Smith Grove Sanitarium can be seen parked behind Young Hawkins and Pete McCabe during one of the flashback sequences to 1978.
  33. On September 5, 2019, it was announced that indie cinema and festival darling Robert Longstreet has joined the cast as adult Lonnie Elam, who bullied Tommy and tried to make him believe that the boogeyman was coming after him in the 1978 original.
  34. Lonnie is also the same kid who was dared to go into Michael Myers’ old house, and while hiding in the bushes, Dr. Loomis famously yelled, “Hey! Hey, Lonnie, get your ass away from there!” to which Lonnie and his friends scrammed.
  35. Principal photography began on September 12, 2019 on location in Wilmington, NC.
  36. Lindsay believes that as a kid Lonnie was the only kid brave enough to have gone nosing around in the Myers house, something he confesses is untrue. We actually saw Dr. Loomis scare him and his friends off when they tried this in the original film.
  37. When musing on how Michael seemingly becomes more powerful the more fear he instills, Laurie uses the phrase “the true curse of Michael,” which recalls the sixth film’s subtitle, “The Curse of Michael Myers.”
  38. The 2-D map used by Lonnie to show Cameron and Allyson where Michael is headed is the current map of the west of Bloomington, Illinois.
  39. In the previous movie, it was mentioned Hawkins had stopped Loomis from killing Michael in 1978; this event is shown in this film during a flashback, and Hawkins feels intense guilt over his actions.

  41. In June 2019, it was reported that a sequel would begin filming in September 2019, with Green returning to write the script and direct and Curtis, Greer, and Matichak reprising their roles from the 2018 film.

  43. On July 19, 2019, Universal Pictures revealed the titles and release dates of two sequels were announced: Halloween Kills, set to be released on October 16, 2020, and Halloween Ends, set to be released on October 15, 2021.
  44. Green will direct both films and co-write the scripts with McBride, and Curtis will reprise her role in both films. Teems was confirmed as a co-writer for Halloween Kills.
  45. At the same time Paul Brad Logan and Chris Bernier were announced as co-writers of Halloween Ends.
  46. Casting for extras was announced in late August 2019.
  47. As of October 24, 2021, Halloween Kills has grossed $73.1 million in the United States.
  48. In Canada and $17.5 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $90.6 million.
  49. In the United States and Canada, Halloween Kills was released alongside The Last Duel, and was initially projected to gross $35–40 million from 3,700 theaters in its opening weekend.
  50. The film made $4.85 million from Thursday night previews, the biggest for both an R-rated title and a horror film amid the pandemic, surpassing A Quiet Place Part II’s $4.8 million.
  51. After making $22.8 million on its first day (including previews), estimates were raised to $50 million.
  52. It ended up debuting to $49.4 million, topping the box office and marking the best opening for an R-rated film amid the pandemic (nearly doubling The Suicide Squad’s $26.2 million).
  53. It fell 71% in its second weekend to $14.5 million, finishing second behind newcomer Dune.
  54. One of the goofs is that in the 1978 era flash back scene, a blue 1970s Ford police car is shown. The red and blue light bar on top of the police car was one produced in the 1980s.
  55. A mistake spoted about the continuity is when Vanessa shoots the Desert Eagle at the car, in which Michael sits, the drivers door is already open as she comes closer, before Michael uses the door to deflect the gun.
  56. The nurse and doctor characters may seem to people like new characters for this film, but they actually do appear in Halloween (2018). When Michael first returns to Haddonfield and is walking down the street filled with trick or treaters, he sees them getting in their car, presumably to go to the talent show audience see in this film. Similar to this film, the husband forgot his stethoscope and runs back inside to get it, while the wife nervously watches Michael approach, finding him suspicious. Michael does not end up killing them until this film.
  57. Before the Haddonfield citizens and Michael square off, Brackett repeats one of his lines from the 1978 film, “”You know it’s Halloween. I guess everyone’s entitled to one good scare.”
  58. To taunt Michael (and lure him into a trap), Karen compares herself to his sister. The movie ends with Michael killing Karen in the same room and the same way that he killed Judith.
  59. The opening title sequence features dozens of pumpkins with flames shooting out of their eyes, foreshadowing the angry mob of Haddonfield residents.
  60. Near the end of the movie, before Lonnie goes into the Myers house to confront Michael, he says to Cameron, “I’ll see you at the finish line”. Both end up being killed by Michael not too long after.
