Fast X Trivia | 50 facts about the movie

Fast X is a 2023 American action film directed by Louis Leterrier. It serves as the sequel to Fast and Furious 9.

Let’s find out more about the movie!

  1. Fast X -also known as Fast & Furious 10- is a 2023 American action film.
  2. It was directed by Louis Leterrier.
  3. The screenplay was written by Dan Mazeau and Justin Lin.
  4. It is based on a story by Mazeau, Lin, and Zach Dean.
  5. It is the sequel to F9 (2021), the first part of the final installment in the mainline Fast & Furious franchise, and the eleventh installment overall.
  6. It stars Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto alongside an ensemble supporting cast.
  7. The film is said to be the first part of the series’ three part finale, which will include Fast & Furious 12 as the final installment.
  8. Jason Statham is returning as Deckard Shaw for the finale.
  9. John Cena is reprising his role as Jakob Toretto for the finale.
  10. Actor Sung Kang has suggested that fans start a hashtag campaign like they did with “Justice for Han” to bring back Gal Gadot’s Gisele for this installment.
  11. On November 7th, 2021. Vin Diesel posted a picture on instagram with Dwayne Johnson, about ending the fight, and is trying to bring him back in the fast family for last chapter.
  12. On 2 May 2022, it was confirmed that Louis Leterrier would be replacing Justin Lin as the director of the film. Lin stepped down from directing duties on April 27, roughly one week after filming commenced, reportedly due to conflicts with Vin Diesel. He would still be receiving writing and producing credits, though.
  13. Alan Ritchson had previously starred in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows II (2016), which featured a plane jump in homage to Fast & Furious 7 (2015).
  14. During the jump, Ritchson’s character Raphael asks “What would Vin Diesel do?”
  15. The characters shown in the trailer at the Toretto family barbecue are Dom, Letty, Mia, Tej, Roman, Han, Ramsey, “little” Brian, and Rita Moreno’s matriarch, subsequently revealed to be Dom & Mia’s abuela (grandmother). There’s an apparent empty space next to Mia’s spot at the table next to her mother, presumably edited that way to avoid a surprise reveal.
  16. The film’s cast includes 4 Oscar winners: Rita Moreno, Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren and Brie Larson.
  17. The first full trailer for the movie explains why Dante has a grudge against Dom. In keeping with Fast & Furious tradition, Dante’s out for revenge after Dom and his crew injured & killed members of his family, specifically the villains from Fast and Furious 7 (2011).
  18. This mirrors Deckard Shaw’s character motivation in Fast and Furious 7 (2015), getting vengeance for his brother who was nearly killed by Dom’s crew at the end of Fast and Furious 6 (2013). Also in keeping with Fast & Furious tradition, the ending of Fast and Furious 6 (2011) was retconned to incorporate Dante into it. This was done twice with Fast and Furious 7: Tokyo Drift (2006) in the scene showing Han’s presumed death: first in Fast and Furious 7 (2015), to show Deckard’s first act of vengeance, and then again in Fast and Furious 9 (2021), to show that Mr. Nobody faked Han’s death.
  19. Marks the return of Jason Statham as Deckard Shaw, he previously appeared in an uncredited cameo for a post credits scene in F9 (2021).
  20. In August 2021, it was confirmed that Dwayne Johnson would not be appearing in any more Fast and Furious movies.
  21. Michelle Rodriguez and Charlize Theron filmed their fight scene without a director.
  22. Filming commenced late April, 2022.
  23. On an Instagram post on September 2022, Brie Larson revealed her character’s name to be Tess. Fans speculate that she might be playing Brian O’Conner’s sister in the film. They also suggest that at it was actually Tess who was driving the Nissan Skyline that arrives at the Torretto home at the end of F9 (2021). This could also be said due to the fact Brie Larson has been the brand ambassador of Nissan since 2020.
  24. The film marks the return to digital cinematography once again for the series. Its predecessor F9 (2021) was shot on 35mm film.
  25. The movie will be released twenty years after 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003).
  26. This movie marks the return of Scott Eastwood as Little Nobody, after his absence from F9 (2021). He previously appeared in The Fate of the Furious (2017).
  27. Jason Momoa is the second Aquaman (2018) alum to join the Fast & Furious franchise after director James Wan, who directed the seventh installment: Fast and Furious 7 (2015).
  28. On April 2022, Vin Diesel announced on Instagram that Brie Larson was joining the cast in an undisclosed role.
  29. The movie’s budget was reported to be around $280 million – $300 million, however it was revised to be approximately $340 million, according to individuals with knowledge of the production.
  30. That’s 70% more than the reported $200 million budget for F9 (2021), making Fast X easily the most expensive entry in the franchise.
  31. The cars driven by main characters in the main trailer are two of Dom’s longtime rides (a 2022 four-door Dodge Charger Hellcat & vintage two-door one); Letty’s 1960s vintage Chevy Nova SS; Dante’s 1960s-era Chevy Impala SS; and Han in a 1970s-era Alfa Romeo GTV, painted in his character’s trademark orange & black.
  32. Both David Leitch who directed the spin-off, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019) and F. Gary Gray who directed the eighth film, The Fate of the Furious (2017), were being considered to replaced Justin Lin before the job went to Louis Leterrier.
  33. Louis Leterrier was previously considered to direct Fast and Furious 8 (2017) before F. Gary Gray got the job.
  34. Both actors Jason Momoa and Alan Ritchson played Aquaman. Momoa played it on the big screen in Aquaman and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom while Ritchson played it on TV in Smallville.
  35. This will be Vin Diesel’s ninth portrayal as Dominic Toretto, after The Fast and the Furious (2001), The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006), Fast & Furious (2009), Fast Five (2011), Fast & Furious 6 (2013), Furious 7 (2015), The Fate of the Furious (2017), and F9 (2021).
  36. In September 2022 the cast and crew returned to Puerto Rico for the first time since the filming of Fast Five took place, with scenes being filmed in the Teodoro Moscoso bridge and parts of San Juan.
  37. Marks the return of Luis Da Silva Jr. as Diogo twelve years after his appearance in Fast Five (2011).
  38. In an interview with Esquire Middle East, director Louis Leterrier went on to talk about the practical effects and physical stunts being utilized in the movie saying: “Obviously we had visual effects help, but we just needed to keep everything grounded in the practical. The visual effects were mainly for safety and scope, but we needed the basis to stay in our reality. Without that, it would become too much. I wanted it to feel like Fast 1, Fast 3, and Fast 5 — movies that feel grounded. That is my style, and everyone accepted that, so everyone was really on board. Everyone was excited to re-explore physical stunts.”
  39. According to the movie’s official synopsis released by the studio, Kurt Russell’s Mr. Nobody has been replaced by Alan Ritchson’s character Aimes, who’s now Little Nobody’s boss and not a fan of Dom and his crew.
  40. The opening of Fast and Furious 9 (2021) showed Jakob orchestrating Mr. Nobody’s plane crash in a Central American jungle – and sending Dom’s crew an SOS message shortly before the crash – but he was gone by the time Dom & crew arrived, and his whereabouts appear unknown. Brie Larson’s character Tess is described as a “rogue operative” who’s also part of Mr. Nobody’s anonymous “Agency.”
  41. Brie Larson said working on the film, was a dream come true.
  42. The movie’s increased budget was due to tax-incentives, which can be blamed on numerous elements such as increased salaries for series star Vin Diesel and the rest of the franchise’s ensemble cast. General increases in production costs are caused by global inflation and mainly charges for pandemic testing requirements mandated by COVID-19 safety protocols.
  43. In an interview with Esquire Middle East, director Louis Leterrier revealed more of this movie, including his approach and how it differs from Lin’s in F9. “What I wanted to do on this one, because it’s very much my style, was to ground it more in reality. I wanted to -no pun intended -land it back on Earth. They went into space in number nine, and I was like, ‘okay, they went to space, there’s no way I can top that.’ But what I can do is do stuff that we’ve never done before practically, such as rolling a one-ton bomb -an actual one ton metal ball in the streets of Rome, and hope not to destroy the Colosseum.”
  44. Before Louis Leterrier as Lin’s replacement, the studio is searching for directors including James Wan (who direct the seventh film), Anthony and Joe Russo, Peyton Reed and Rawson Marshall Thurber considering to direct.
  45. The Fast & Furious series’ time line is famously convoluted – with the fourth, fifth and sixth installments taking place before Han’s “death” (later discovered to be faked) in Fast and Furious 7: Tokyo Drift (2006), the third installment which debuted in 2006 – and the trend continues in this one.
  46. Per the studio’s plot synopsis, Dom’s son “Little Brian” is six years old. In Fast and Furious 8 (2017), which debuted almost exactly six years before this movie’s theatrical release, Cipher had already kidnapped the son Dom didn’t know he’d had with Elena, and the baby was at least a year old at that point.
  47. However modern storytelling does not have to be linear; as there are no year markers within the films, there should not be an expectation that the films being released are telling a story in real time.
  48. Fast X premiered at The Space Cinema Roma Moderno in Rome on May 12, 2023.
  49. It will be released first in parts of Europe on May 17, and in the United States on May 19, by Universal Pictures.
  50. It’s sequel is set to be released in 2025. A twelfth and final mainline installment is in development.
