  1. Doom Patrol is an American superhero television series.
  2. It was developed by Jeremy Carver.
  3. It is based on the DC Comics superhero team of the same name.
  4. The series features Jane (Diane Guerrero), Rita Farr (April Bowlby), Vic Stone (Joivan Wade), Larry Trainor (Matt Bomer / Matthew Zuk), Cliff Steele (Brendan Fraser / Riley Shanahan), Chief (Timothy Dalton) and his daughter Dorothy Spinner (Abi Monterey) as the members of the eponymous Doom Patrol. Although Bowlby, Bomer, and Fraser reprise their roles from the series Titans, the two shows are set in separate continuities.
  5. The series premiered on February 15, 2019, exclusively for the DC Universe streaming service.
  6. The second season aired on both DC Universe and HBO Max.
  7. The two streaming services releasing episodes simultaneously on June 25, 2020.
  8. In September 2020, the series was renewed for a third season exclusively for HBO Max which premiered on September 23, 2021.
  9. Doom Patrol was announced on May 14, 2018, as an intended spin-off of Titans for video on demand service DC Universe after co-creator and executive producer Geoff Johns revealed that Titans’ fourth episode would feature and be titled after the Doom Patrol on February 10, 2018.
  10. Despite the initial order and sharing characters and actors, however, Doom Patrol occupies a separate continuity from Titans.
  11. Fifteen episodes were developed for the first season, which premiered on February 15, 2019, and concluded on May 24, 2019.
  12. Jeremy Carver wrote the pilot, and served as an executive producer alongside Johns, Greg Berlanti, and Sarah Schechter.
  13. Production companies involved with the series include Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
  14. The series is influenced by writer Grant Morrison’s run of the comic.
  15. On July 20, 2019, it was announced at San Diego Comic-Con that Doom Patrol had been renewed for a second season, which premiered on both DC Universe and WarnerMedia’s video on demand service HBO Max on June 25, 2020.
  16. The season was originally intended to have 10 episodes.
  17. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, production was shut down before the 10th episode could be completed and the season instead comprised nine episodes.
  18. In September 2020, the series was renewed for a third season exclusively on HBO Max.
  19. Principal photography for the first season began on August 30, 2018, in Olde Town Conyers, Georgia.
  20. Filming continued in Georgia throughout September 2018, in Lawrenceville and at Briarcliff Mansion.
  21. Principal photography for the first season finished on April 10, 2019.
  22. Filming for the second season began November 2019 in Georgia.
  23. Filming for the third season began on January 4, 2021.
  24. Filming wrapped on June 6, 2021
  25. Diane Guerrero had been vocal about wanting to play a superhero and described her dream role as ‘”anything involving sci-fi or fantasy”.
  26. Season 2 was originally supposed to have 10 episodes, but because of the global pandemic, they had to halt shooting on Doom Patrol and the Season 2 finale was never shot
  27. The team in this series is a mix of various line-ups from the comics. Robotman Cliff Steele is the only member who has been on the Doom Patrol in all its comic book incarnations. Elasti-Girl and Crazy Jane have never been on the team at the same time. Cyborg is not tied to the comic book team in any way, his Teen Titans teammate Beast Boy, however, is.
  28. Robotman wears a different T-shirt of a rock band in every adventure, mostly, punk bands, such as The Clash, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, etc.
  29. This is Matt Bomer’s second DC role. He had previously voiced Superman in Superman: Unbound (2013). Before that, he had nearly played the role of Superman in a cancelled 2004 film.
  30. In the first episode, Cliff Steele/Robotman (played by Brendan Fraser) mocked Larry’s mummy-like appearance. Brendan Fraser is known for his main role in The Mummy films.
