Deadpool 3 Trivia | 40 facts about the upcoming movie

Deadpool 3, is an upcoming American superhero film, that will be the 34th film in the MCU and the third sequel to Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018).

Let’s find out more about the third Deadpool movie!

  1. Hugh Jackman said he really was done playing the character of Wolverine after Logan (2017). When asked why he chose to return for this film, he simply said “I just wanted to do it, and I felt it in my gut.”
  2. In X-Men (2000), Wolverine says of the team’s suits, “You actually go outside in these things?” to which Cyclops responds, “What would you prefer? Yellow spandex?” The live-action Wolverine would not appear in his signature yellow costume until this movie, 24 years after the release of the first X-Men movie.
  3. Director Shawn Levy said, “Like the rest of the world, I’ve waited two decades to see Wolverine in a whole movie with Deadpool, and I don’t know if this is our last shot at Wolverine on screen, so I was going to make goddamned sure we get the old yellow and blue just once, and that we get it right.”
  4. The film marks Hugh Jackman’s tenth time in the role of Logan/Wolverine, following X-Men (2000), X2: X-Men United (2003), X-Men: The Last Stand (2006), X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), X-Men: First Class (2011), The Wolverine (2013), X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014), X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) & Logan (2017).
  5. After Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox in 2018, the film rights to all X-Men characters (including Deadpool) reverted to Marvel Studios.
  6. While Ryan Reynolds will continue to play the role, any future films will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  7. Jay Fear, a terminally ill 45 year old Wrexham FC fan (a soccer club which Ryan Reynolds co-owns in the UK) got to meet Reynolds at the Wrexham V Boreham Wood league match in April 2023 thanks to a charity called ‘Bucket List Wishes’ who were contacted by nurses looking after Mr Fear. At the meeting Reynolds gave him one of the gloves from his Deadpool costume and arranged for him to visit the Deadpool 3 film set at Pinewood Studios. After Mr Fear died the following month Reynolds posted a heartfelt tribute to him via social media.
  8. In January 2021, Marvel Studios confirmed that this would be the first R-rated MCU movie.
  9. Intended to be the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  10. Kevin Feige served as an associate producer on X-Men (2000), and was present at Hugh Jackman’s original audition for Wolverine.
  11. Hugh Jackman plays Wolverine 24 years after his debut in X-Men (2000).
  12. He sets the record for longest tenure as a Marvel character in live-action movies, surpassing Sir Patrick Stewart, who played Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), 22 years after the first X-Men.
  13. Leslie Uggams (who plays Blind Al) celebrated her 80th birthday during production and received a cake to mark the occasion.
  14. Contrary to popular belief, the reason for T.J. Miller not reprising his role as Weasel from the previous 2 films isn’t due to his legal and public controversies from 2018, but due to the feud between him and Ryan Reynolds. Both have publicly cited one another as being too difficult to work with, and they would not be collaborating again.
  15. Daniel Radcliffe has been a longtime fan favorite to replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, partly due to his height (Radcliffe is 5’5″ and in the comics Wolverine is 5’3″), but Radcliffe has denied any casting rumors, saying, “I say something, and then occasionally I get bored of answering that way so I say something different, and that sets [the Wolverine buzz] off again. I should just never open my mouth.”
  16. Fans have even speculated that Radcliffe would debut as Wolverine in this movie via the multiverse, especially after rumors that he was cast in a “secret role.” These rumors intensified after Radcliffe revealed his muscular physique in Miracle Workers (2019), but Radcliffe again denied that he would be Wolverine, “I got buff because I am obsessive, and I want to… You’ve seen my parents, they’re like insane fitness people. So that’s just been passed on. But no. No Wolverine. Flattered, but no.”
  17. The 10th R-rated Marvel movie.
  18. Captain America: Brave New World (2025) and Blade (2025) were both delayed to 2025 due to extensive reshoots and the strikes, leaving this as the sole MCU film in 2024.

  23. Fans rumored that Taylor Swift would appear as Dazzler, based on her attending a Kansas City Chiefs vs. New York Jets game alongside Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and director Shawn Levy.
  24. When asked about the rumor, Levy responded, “They [Swift fans] sure are loud. I’m going across the board. ‘No comment’ because that’s a double whammy. That’s Taylor-related. And it’s MCU-related. I’m no dummy. You’re going to have to wait and see.”
  25. Matthew Vaughn said of this movie, “That’s going to be the jolt… the Marvel universe is about to have a jolt of them, and it’s going to bring that body back to life… I think Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are about to save the whole Marvel universe.”
  26. Jennifer Garner is confirmed to reprise her role as Elektra Natchios from Daredevil (2003) and its spin-off Elektra (2005).
  27. Ben Affleck was seen on set of the movie in June 2023, which marks heavy speculation that his character’s version of Daredevil (2003) will play a role in this story (probably via The Multiverse).
  28. Morena Baccarin is officially returning as Vanessa.
  29. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will be the fourth and fifth X-Men actors from the 20th Century Fox films to return for the MCU, following Evan Peters in WandaVision (2021), Patrick Stewart in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022) and Kelsey Grammer in The Marvels (2023).
  30. Shane Reid serves as an editor on the film.
  31. Rob Simonsen was hired to compose the film’s score, after previously working with Levy on The Adam Project and the fourth season of Stranger Things, by mid-July 2023.

  39. In early December, set photos revealed that the characters Sabretooth, resembling Tyler Mane who portrayed the character in X-Men, and Toad, based on his X-Men appearance, would appear.
  40. In early January 2024, Variety reported that the film would include several characters from prior Fox-produced Marvel films, and that it was expected to have a similar approach to Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) with how that film featured multiple characters from past Spider-Man films.
