Let’s find out more about Black Widow!

  1. Before Black Widow became the heroine we know and love today, she was a much different character. In 1940, Claire Voyant became the first Black Widow, receiving her name due to the fact that she would touch her victims on the forehead, leave a black widow mark, and send their souls to hell.
  2. It was revealed that the film is set after Captain America: Infinity War (2016)
  3. Black Widow is portrayed by Scarlet Johansson.
  4. This will be Scarlett Johansson’s eighth time playing Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow.

  9. In fact, Feige stated that this film was written to showcase Belova just as much as Scarlett Johansen’s Natasha Romanoff.
  10. Emma Watson, Saoirse Ronan, Alice Englert, Dar Zuzovsky and Florence Pugh were considered for the role of Yelena Belova with Watson being the front-runner.

  19. Black Widow—the Romanoff version—made her official comic book debut in Tales of Suspense #52, starring Iron Man, in 1964.
  20. It’s fitting that she also made her film—and MCU—debut in an Iron Man property as well.
  21. Black Widow’s release date has been postponed due to the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19).

  27. However, due to the Coronavirus pandemic outbreak (Covid-19), the film was postponed until November 6th, 2020.

  33. But after female-led action movies bombed at the box office that year, Lionsgate pulled the plug on the film.
  34. Emily Blunt was originally cast as Black Widow and was ready to film Iron Man 2 when she had to back out because she was already working on Gulliver’s Travels and the filming schedules conflicted.

  40. In 1975, Stan Lee gave the rights of Black Widow and Daredevil to none other than Angela Bowie, the then-wife of David Bowie, to develop a television series with the characters. The show didn’t o forward though.
