What you don’t know about ‘Pandora’s Box’

The phrase ‘Pandora’s Box’ has been accepted  due to a bad translation by the humanist Erasmus of Rotterdam.

‘Pandora’ s Box’ was originally ‘Pandora’s Jar’, ‘pithos’ in  Greek.

Back in the 16th century Erasmus, mistranslated ‘pithos’ to ‘pyxis’ which means box.
