  2. The series was created by Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris for Netflix.
  3. The series stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin in the title roles of Grace Hanson and Frankie Bergstein.

  43. The ’95 movie Clueless is iconic for its one-liners and daily life in California’s luxurious communities. In one scene, Cher decides to vacate a vehicle to get away from Elton. The only problem is, she’s in a bad side of town and ends up being robbed in front of a convenience store while waiting for a ride.Funny enough, the same convenience store in season two’s “The Bender,” is seen where Grace’s car is stolen while she’s getting liquor!

  45. Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin have shared the on-screen ex-boyfriend played by Sam Elliott. On this show, Jane Fonda’s character, Grace, previously dated Phil (Elliott). In Grandma (2015), Elliott played the ex of Lily Tomlin’s character. In both scenarios, it had been many years since the old lovers had last seen one another.
  46. In S1 E13 Sol, Frankie, and sons are clearing out their old house when Sol suggests they light the Shabbat candles once last time. He gets the candlesticks, lights the candles, and says the blessing. This Jewish ritual is performed on Friday at sundown to welcome the Sabbath. It is traditionally done by a woman but if none are present a man could do it.
  47. Jane Fonda’s name was also Grace in Peace, Love & Misunderstanding (2011). Her role was a free spirited ex-hippie just like Lily Tomlin’s character on this show.
  48. When Frankie catches Grace trimming the rug under the table with the chairs stacked on top she asks “Do we have a poltergeist?” The star of Poltergeist (1982), Craig T. Nelson, appeared later in the season.
