A flash mob is a group of people who suddenly appear out of nowhere and start performing a short act or dance in a public place, then disappear again.
Bill Wasik, senior editor of “Harper’s Magazine”, was the first to organise the first flash mob in Manhattan in 2003.
The first attempt was unsuccessful after the targeted retail store was tipped off about the plan for people to gather.
Flash mobs are organized through telecommunications, social media, or emails.
