The tallest tree in the world is a coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) and it is 115.72 metres tall.
It was discovered in Redwood National Park, California by the naturalists Chris Atkins and Michael Taylor.
It is named Hyperion, taken its name from one of the 12 Titans of the Greek mythology.
