The climate of the Sahara has undergone enormous variations and it was not always the hottest desert in the world, actually it was not even a desert!
The Sahara used to be green and wet around 9,000 years ago and will possiby be again after 15, 000 years.
The Neolithic Subpluvial was the most recent of a number of periods of “Wet Sahara” or “Green Sahara”, during which the region was much more moist and supported a richer biota and human population than the present-day desert.
