Mike Nichols, the director of the film “The Graduate” (1967) , asked Paul Simon to write a soundtrack for the movie. Simon and Garfunkel were too busy at that time, so the editor begged them to rename the already existing song “Mrs Roosvelt” to “Mrs Robinson”.
“Mrs Roosvelt” was a tribute to Eleanor Roosevelt and it had absolutely nothing to do with the plot of the movie.
