Eric Swalwell is an American politician. He serves as the U.S. Representative for California’s 15th congressional district since 2013.

So let’s dive into some more trivia and facts about his life and career.

  1. His full name is Eric Michael Swalwell Jr.
  2. He was born in November 16, 1980
  3. He is an American politician
  4. He is serving as the U.S. Representative for California’s 15th congressional district since 2013
  5. He is a member of the Democratic Party
  6. His district covers most of eastern Alameda County and part of central Contra Costa County
  7. Swalwell was raised in Sac City, Iowa, and Dublin, California
  8. While attending the University of Maryland, College Park, he served as a student liaison to the city council for College Park, Maryland
  9. He then interned for Ellen Tauscher and worked as a deputy district attorney in Alameda County, California
  10. Before being elected to the U.S. House, he served as a local appointee on Dublin commissions
  11. He also served one term elected to the Dublin City Council
  12. He was elected to the U.S. House in November 2012
  13. Defeating incumbent Pete Stark, a 40-year incumbent who had held the office since 1973
  14. Stark was a fellow Democrat almost a half-century Swalwell’s senior
  15. Swalwell was born shortly after Stark’s re-election to his fifth term in Congress in the 1980 election
  16. Swalwell took office on January 3, 2013
  17. Swalwell announced his candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination on April 8, 2019
  18. He dropped out of the race on July 8, 2019
  19. Swalwell was born on November 16, 1980, in Sac City, Iowa
  20. He is the first of four sons of Eric Nelson Swalwell and Vicky Joe Swalwell
  21. Both of whom are Republicans
  22. His father was then serving as police chief in Algona, Iowa
  23. After leaving Iowa, the family eventually settled in Dublin, California
  24. He graduated from Wells Middle School
  25. And then from Dublin High School in 1999
  26. Swalwell attended Campbell University in North Carolina on a soccer scholarship from 1999 to 2001
  27. He broke both of his thumbs in 2001, his sophomore year
  28. Thus ending the scholarship
  29. Swalwell transferred to the University of Maryland, College Park, as a junior
  30. In 2003, he completed his bachelor’s degree in government and politics at Maryland
  31. He enrolled at the University of Maryland School of Law and earned his Juris Doctor in 2006
  32. At the University of Maryland, Swalwell served as Vice President of Campus Affairs for the Student Government Association
  33. He was an elected member of the Student-Faculty-Staff University Senate and of its executive committee
  34. He was also an active member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity
  35. He served as a student liaison to the City Council of College Park
  36. The latter appointment inspired other college towns to consider similar arrangements
  37. Swalwell and his first wife are divorced
  38. He married his second wife, Brittany Ann Watts, a sales director at the Ritz-Carlton in Half Moon Bay, in October 2016
  39. Together, the couple have a son, born in 2017
  40. And a daughter, born in 2018
  41. Swalwell revealed in February of 2019 that he was afflicted with Bell’s palsy at one point
