Did you know that Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish, the so called Scandinavian languages, are considered mutually intelligible with one another? But how about Finnish?
Finnish is entirely unrelated to the Scandinavian languages, although it includes several words that have been adopted by the neighboring languages, just as Swedish, spoken in Finland today, has borrowed from Finnish.
For the history, Danish is considered much closer to Norwegian.
