- It is the largest one among the species of Felidae.
- Tigers are not friendly, as they are predators.
- Since they are predators they eat other animals.
- They mostly eat wild pigs, antelopes, deers and, buffalos.
- They prefer hunting in night.
- They also like being alone searching for food.
- They kill other animals by breaking their neck or by hitting them on the back of their head.
- Normally mammals can swim, but don’t like it because they are not used to the waters.
- Tigers though are good swimmers.
- In fact, sometimes they cool off in pools and water.
- When they want to shout, they can be heard up to 3 km away.
- Tigers can reach a length of up to 3.3 meters.
- They normally weigh as much as 300 kilograms.
- At full speed, they can reach up to 65km/h.

- Their age is estimated 2.000 years ago.
- Today, there are 5 subspecies of tiger: Bengal, South China, Indochinese, Sumatran, and Siberian.
- Sadly, 3 subspecies of tiger have become extinct – Caspian, Bali, and Javan.
- A hundred years ago tiger could be found in Asia.
- Today they are reduced to 7% due to a range of reasons.
- Sometimes tigers hang out in groups.
- These groups are called “ambush” or “steak”.
- Around half of tiger cubs don’t live beyond two years of age.
- Tiger cubs leave their mother when they are around 2 years of age.
- Sadly, there are more tigers that are held into the zoos rather than the ones that live in the wild.
- Tigers sometimes grow up with lions.
- Together they create hybrids because they reproduce together.
- The hybrids are named tigons or ligers.
- Tigers can jump up to 5 meters in length!
