Have you ever wondered what ‘s the sound of an atom? Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology succeeded in making acoustic waves couple to an artificial atom.
The sound an atom makes is equal to a D note, specifically D28, about twenty octaves above the highest D on a piano.
At such high frequencies, the wavelength of the sound becomes short enough that it can be guided along the surface of a microchip.
