Riverdale is an American teen drama television series based on the characters by Archie Comics. It was ordered to series at The CW in May 2016, and the 13-episode first season premiered on January 26, 2017. It was adapted for television by Archie Comics’ chief creative officer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and executive produced by Greg Berlanti.
- The top view of the whole town is used in Pretty Little Liars (2010), Witches of East End (2013), The Carrie Diaries (2013), Gilmore Girls (2000), _Bitten_ and Hart of Dixie (2011). The set itself is used on Pretty Little Liars, Gilmore Girls, and Hart of Dixie.
- Both Cole Sprouse and K.J. Apa dyed their hair for their roles.
- In this series, Jughead wears a pronged beanie as an updated version of the whoopee cap the character traditionally wears in the comics. The whoopee cap was a popular hat for kids of the early 20th century made by cutting a fedora into a crown-like shape.

- The series was originally going to be on FOX, but was moved to The CW instead fitting since the network has adapted several comic books into TV Series.

- In the comics, the town of Riverdale is actually based off the small town of Hiawatha, Kansas, “The City of Beautiful Maples.”
- K.J. Apa is from New Zealand and pronounced a flawless American accent while filming Riverdale.
- The Latin motto on the gate of the Blossom family estate is ‘radices currere abyssi’, or in English, ‘roots run deep’.
- All episode titles are also famous movie titles.
- Camila Mendes admitted in an interview that she knew her co-star Cole Sprouse from her college years. They both attended the NYU. Camila said that they had exchanged a few words, but that Cole did not remember her.
- Luke Perry and Marisol Nichols were both guest stars on CBS’ Criminal Minds (2005).
- Lochlyn Munro and Mädchen Amick were both guest stars on Netflix’s _Longmire_.
- Luke Perry has acted alongside two Audrey Griswolds: Marisol Nichols (from Vegas Vacation (1997)) in this series, and Dana Barron (from National Lampoon’s Vacation (1983)) in Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990).
- “Riverdale” is shot in the region of Vancouver, B.C. So was the film Josie and the Pussycats (2001).
- Though shown as a tough biker gang, the “South Side Serpents” were originally a gang of small thugs led by Fangs Fogarty in the “Li’l Archie” comics in 1950-1960 mainly. Their t-shirt represented a snake forming a “S” symbol which is found on the bikers’ leather jackets and tattoos. “Serpent” is also the French translation for “snake”…
