- On June 8, 2017, cast member Glenne Headly died after she filmed five episodes of the planned 13-episode season order.
- Producers stated that she would not be recast and that the episodes she filmed will air.
- This left the writers with the need to rework the episodes she was due to feature in.
- The series was dedicated to the memory of Glenne Headly, who played Diane Futterman. She passed away from complications of a pulmonary embolism on June 8, 2017, at age 62, in Santa Monica, California.
- On September 9, 2016, it was announced that Hulu had ordered the production to series after reviewing the recently produced pilot.

- The building used for the lab in the pilot, is the same building used for Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in “Grey’s Anatomy.”

- In Season 1 Episode 8, “Girth, Wind and Fire,” Tiger mentions celebrating “Festivus” when they return back to their time. “Festivus” was originally a family tradition of scriptwriter Dan O’Keefe, who worked on the American sitcom Seinfeld, Festivus entered popular culture after it was made the focus of the 1997 episode “The Strike”
- This is the second project Josh Hutcherson and Seth Rogen have worked together on in 2017, along with the movie Disaster Artist
- It was filmed in Culver City.
- Set in Pasadena, a nod to the cult classic time travel movie Bill & Teds Excellent Adventure which was also set there.
- It is full of references to the Terminator series, mainly the time travel, the red HUD shots of the Biotics, the episode at James Cameron’s house, and even the font used for the date at the beginning of each episode.
- In the final moments of the final episode of the show, backstage photographs and video-clips of Josh Hutcherson, Eliza Coupe and Derek Wilson being coached by the ‘real’ Josh, Tiger and Wolf can be seen; (as well as the actual magazines, wanted posters etc that certain scenes in the series reference.) It is notable because the characters, whose supposedly ‘true’ story the show is based on, are all people of color – comedically highlighting Hollywood’s tendency to whitewash roles.
- On Rotten Tomatoes, season 1 has an approval rating of 82% based on 39 reviews, with an average rating of 7.08 out of 10.
- Started shooting on March 30, 2016 in Los Angeles.
