“Bridgerton” is the first series produced by Shonda Rhimes after her deal with the streaming service.

So let’s dive into some trivia and facts about the new series.

  1. Bridgerton is an English period drama streaming television series
  2. It is created by Chris Van Dusen
  3. It is produced by Shonda Rhimes
  4. It is based on Julia Quinn’s bestselling novels
  5. The series is set in the competitive world of Regency London high society’s Ton during the season, when debutantes are presented at court
  6. The series premiered on December 25, 2020, on Netflix
  7. On July 20, 2018 Netflix announced that Shonda Rhimes would produce the Bridgerton series based on Julia Quinn’s best-selling novels, while Chris Van Dusen would be showrunner
  8. On June 19, 2019, Julie Andrews was cast as Lady Whistledown
  9. Julie Andrews voice-overs explain much of the series’ action
  10. On July 10, 2019, it was announced that Phoebe Dynevor and Regé-Jean Page would play leads
  11. While Jonathan Bailey, Golda Rosheuvel, Luke Newton, Claudia Jessie, Nicola Coughlan, Ruby Barker, Sabrina Bartlett, Ruth Gemmell, Adjoa Andoh and Polly Walker were cast in as regulars
  12. Bridgerton was filmed in London, at Leigh Court in Somerset for the ballroom scenes and in Bath, Somerset
  13. Wilton House, near Salisbury, was also used as a filming location
  14. Bridgerton was released on December 25, 2020
  15. The teaser was released as well as the posters in November 2020
  16. For the series, review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes reported an approval rating of 94%
  17. Based on 34 reviews
  18. With an average rating of 7.73/10
  19. Metacritic gave the series a weighted average score of 76 out of 100
  20. Based on 24 reviews
  21. Indicating “generally favorable reviews”
  22. There is no news at the moment about a second season
