Ariadne was the daughter of Minos, King of Crete, and his queen Pasiphae and she is known for her involvement in the myths of the Minotaur and Theseus in the Labyrinth.
Ariadne’s name derives from Hesychius’ listing of Άδνον, a Cretan-Greek form for ‘arihagne’ which means “utterly pure”.
